Does Personal Media Take Away from God?
Bishops have encouraged Italian Catholics to give up texting, TV, iPods and Facebook so they can relearn how to “communicate”.
Assuming they mean communication with God, do you agree? Do your virtual entertainment devices keep you from God, interrupt prayer times or Bible study?
Or is the Catholic Church missing the mark? Is virtual entertainment just a different form of communication? Would you really talk to that person if you weren’t texting?
The point is this: If you’re being distracted from spending time with God, it might be a good idea to put away certain things for a while. But if you are ministering to someone, planting a seed or being encouraged by Christian tunes, I say keep them as tools to strengthen your relationship with Him.
